Safeguarding and Child Protection for Professionals with Designated Responsibility (previously Level 3)
 

Who should attend:
Staff and managers with particular responsibilities or those with a lead role in safeguarding and child protection within their organisation. This will include designated safeguarding leads in schools, health care settings and others. Participants must have previously completed the Legal Framework for Practice training (previously Level 2) before booking on to this course.

Outline/Objectives:
This one day course is aimed at colleagues who have a designated responsibility or lead role in relation to safeguarding and child protection.  It aims to provide practical information and guidance related to the role to enhance skills and confidence. 

By the end of the course, participants will

  • Have an awareness of their role and that of other professionals in Safeguarding and Child Protection
  • Be able to recognise and know how to respond sensitively to concerns
  • Consider their role in supporting colleagues with safeguarding concerns
  • Explore some of the challenges of inter-agency working and managing professional disagreement
Content:
  • Section 47 enquiries and collaborative practice in relation to Child Protection Case conferences.
  • Using professional judgements to make decisions about referrals
  • Taking emergency action
  • Working with complexity
  • Communicating with children where there are concerns
